Know your rights!
Make sure you understand the reality of changing to a self employed model. Take into account things like holiday pay, independent book-keeping and client management.
Slick cannot independently advise on this so we would recommend asking a friend in the industry for advice to make sure you are ready to go with this change!
Register with HMRC
You must register as self-employed within 3 months of starting.
Check out more here : Register for Self-Assessment (GOV.UK) and please contact via this link for help on how to get registered!
Discuss your Slick access
Check in regarding your new terms and access to Slick. You can advise an access to the system where you can see just your own KPI's and cash up! This can be changed from Staff access permissions. This is at the discretion of the account owner but you can find out more here.
Ensure the change is documented!
When changing from employed to self employed, ensure that this is reflected in your contract or agreement with the salon owner/manager. Make sure you detail the terms of your working relationship and take into account things like hours, expectations, data-sharing and insurance policies.
Slick cannot independently advise on this so we would recommend asking a lawyer to review this document from both sides before signing and finalising the agreement.
Define your pricing!
Make sure you have set your prices to ensure you're earning a fair wage in the UK! Find out more on pricing for profit here.
